Colour, texture and images, photographed, scanned and collected
from all sorts of sources are inspiration for my textile designs,
at first for prototypes purely as a translation of the feelings
evoked. Of natural or human (made) origin they are "nutrition"
for the designs. It is a challenge for me to translate these
prototypes into threedimensional full-grown designs for fashion,interior
and object art.
Relief is obtained combining materials with different properties;
a pattern is transformed into a texture using special paints
(metallics, foam) combined with specific fabrics; difference
in shrink of wool and other materials resulting in a texture.
Still, I'am also charmed by very common and well known forms
like circles or squares trying to give them another twist.
Together with outspoken colour combinations my designs tend
to have very explicit characters;
they can have an "old" and ageless feel to them
or just the opposite, alienating and weird.
The search for new and fresh combinations of materials, paints
and fabrics goes on...
